The Beer for Brains Foundation along with The Wigwam Arizona Resort, Hensley, and Young's Market present the WOW (Way Out West) Fest featuring the 8th Annual Bocce BrewHaHa Fundraiser & Tournament taking place Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Wigwam Resort on the front lawn. Stepping it up a notch this year by combining one of the world’s oldest team sports with craft beer, food, and a costume competition, centered in the WOW Fest, to raise funds and awareness for brain cancer research. 

WOW Fest

The festival begins at 1:00 p.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m. and will feature over 50 craft beers from breweries such as Boulder, Coronado, Dave's Electric, Deschutes, Firestone, Four Peaks, Full Sail, Hop City, Kona, Left Coast, Maui, Mission, Moosehead, Mother Road, Mudshark, Odell, Prescott Brewing, Redhook, Redstone Meadery, Santa Fe, Sierra Blanca, Sierra Nevada, Sleepy Dog, Tailgate, Uinta, Widmer, and Woodchuck.  The WOW fest is also offering beer making demos, live entertainment, food for purchase on a ticket system, and a VIP tent.  Tickets are just $5 at the door for general admission which includes a commemorative glass and your first tasting.  Or, pre-order your VIP tickets priced at just $45 and enjoy the Four Peaks sponsored seated and shaded area, catered food by The Wigwam, a commemorative glass, 15 drink tickets, and a goodie bag.  VIP tickets are limited so be sure to order yours quickly by clicking here.

Beer For Brains Foundation Bocce Brewhaha

Registration for the bocce ball tournament is $300 per 4-person team, which includes lunch, snacks, dinner, beer, prizes and t-shirts. The deadline for registration payments is April 24, 2013. Please note that we cannot guarantee T-shirt size for those who register after April 20, 2013.  Register here.

Food, beer and prizes are provided by Dogfish Head Brewery, Young’s Market and the Beer for Brains Foundation. There will also be Redstone Meads and other select craft beer from BJ's, Dogfish Head, Four Peaks, and Phoenix Ale.  A percentage of the proceeds from the tournament will benefit brain cancer research programs.

The 8th Annual Bocce BrewHaHa Fundraiser & Tournament is located at the Wigwam Resort's front lawn. Discounted room rates will be available for those participating.

Check-in for the tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the first games starting promptly at 9:00 a.m. and continue throughout the day until a champion is crowned.  Immediately following the championship game will be the awards ceremony, a full Mexican buffet to satisfy your hunger, and a pool party to cool you off!

Join us Friday, March 22nd, from 7:30 to 11 p.m., at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak's Palacio room, in Phoenix, as Arizona's top chefs vie for gastronomic glory in the region's third annual Epicuriad.  This is an event that brings Foodies, Oenophiles, and Craft Beer lovers together in a food, wine, and beer pairing competition like no other.  Quoted as "The Finest Food/Beer/Wine Pairing Competition This Side of ANYWHERE" by Phoenix New Times blogger Zachary Fowle.  Get your tickets today, space is limited.

Each of our talented chefs will be given one beer and one wine to pair in their mission to make one spectacular original dish.  For each pairing, attendees will vote on whether the beer or the wine pairs better, and a final vote made by you, our generous supporters, to decide which chef paired the best dish overall.  This year's event will also include a full dessert buffet, a raffle, and live music in a cocktail party setting. 

We are very excited to add a special feature to this year's VIP portion of the evening, the ultimate battle between beer and wine. This year's VIP experience is one you won't want to miss, Rico's American Grill's Chef Kenneth Arneson will battle against one of our other talented chefs an Iron Chef type competition. Who will cook with beer? Who will cook with wine? Which will win your vote? Our VIP guests will also receive extra perks and early admission. VIP begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the Palacio venue at Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak. We encourage you to purchase your VIP tickets quickly as seating is very limited for this portion of the evening.

Last night in an intimate setting at The Wigwam Resort a group of people were brought together to enjoy delicious food, beer, and wine by the fire and under the stars.  The Wigwam Resorts own Chef De Cuisine Chris Knouse, of Litchfield's did a spectacular job pairing beers from Firestone Walker Brewing Company and wines from Hedges Winery.  Both David Walker, Co-Founder of Firestone Walker Brewing Company and Pete Hedges of Hedges Winery were there to give an outstanding background and discription of each pairing.  It was the battle of which pairs best, beer or wine. By the end of the evening event goers, were full of both knowledge about beer and wine along with brain cancer and why it is important for us all to join in the fight to find a cure.  Who won you ask?  Beer (by a slight margin)!  But the biggest winner at the evening was awareness for brain cancer research.
